Rev. E. Jean Brockington, D. Min

Dr. E. Jean Brockington is the Founding Pastor of the Abundant Life Christian Ministries, established in November 2010 in Lanham, Maryland. She is grateful to God for the opportunity to serve as pastor and minister to His people. She often states, “I love what God has me doing at this season of my life and I love the members of Abundant Life.” She is known as the “Love Pastor” and declares that as God’s people, we are to love God and love each other (Matthew 22:37-39), always remembering that love is an action word.

Dr. Brockington believes in a life application approach when teaching and preaching. She believes that it is great to know the Word of God and believe the Word of God; however, the people of God must be a living example of the Word of God.

In 2001, Rev Brockington accepted the call to ordained ministry and enrolled at Howard University School of Divinity. While enrolled, she was licensed to preach and in 2005 ordained as a Local Deacon under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington, Senior Pastor of Reid Temple A.M.E. Church in Glenn Dale, Maryland. She was an active member of Reid Temple A. M. E. Church for eighteen years. While at Reid Temple, she served on the Ministerial staff, served as the Class Leaders Director and other roles as needed.

As she continued to pursue the fullness of God’s calling, Dr. Brockington was ordained in the Baptist Church in 2010 by Bishop Michael C. Turner, Sr., Senior Pastor of The Miracle Center of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Capitol Heights, Maryland, in preparation to answer God’s call to the pastorate ministry.

She is also the Chairperson and Executive Director of Derek Anthony Moore Charity, Inc. (DAMCI), which was established in 1996 in memory of her only child, Derek, who was a victim of senseless street violence. While God moved her through the healing process, her increased faith helped transform her tragedy to triumph, which resulted in the founding of DAMCI. The mission of DAMCI is to enhance the quality of life for low-income families, at-risk youth, and the elderly in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Since 1997, the Charity has successfully sponsored its Kids To Kamp program, college scholarship program, Mothers of Murdered Children Support Group, programs for the elderly, and several forums and workshops for conflict resolution and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Brockington is the President and Real Estate Broker of Optimum Homes, Inc., a full service real estate company that began operation in March, 1990 in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. She has coordinated and provided numerous free homebuyers seminars to local churches, community groups and non-profit organizations to empower individuals, particularly low-income persons concerning the importance and advantages of homeownership.

She has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Strayer University; a Master of Divinity Degree and Doctor of Ministry Degree from Howard University School of Divinity. She has also taken post graduate courses at Loyola University in pastoral counseling.

Dr. Brockington has been married to her best friend, Calvin Brockington, since 1985. She strives to live each day based on her favorite scripture, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV)
